Keith John - Biography John grew up in Vienna, Virginia and graduated from
Madison High, during which time he drummed for the Coachmen. After
graduating from Ohio's Baldwin Wallace College, he returned to the DC
area and launched an amazing career in professional music, playing in the
Northern Virginia band All Of The Above (Keith John, Marc Clements, Bill Graves,
Andrew Wilson) which released the single "The War Is Over," backed
with "Hey, Am I Shaking?" on Paramount records in 1973. John then
spent the next decade working with a number of bands and artists (he worked a
pickup gig with Leslie West at Route One South in Alexandria, Virginia in 1975),
including the Starland Vocal Band, Evan Johns and the H-Bombs, Billy Hancock,
the Reasons Why, and The Kids. He toured with Billy Idol in 1981 and worked with
Danny Gatton, Cathy King, and the Back Doors in the mid-eighties. In 1985 he
moved to Los Angeles and played with John Mayall and Billy Vera and the
Beaters. The latter half of the eighties saw John keep a busy schedule, touring
with the Ventures in 1985 and 1986, managing (and sitting in with) Maria Muldaur,
and from late 1986 to October 1987 he worked the Buffalo Springfield Reunion
Tour (which included Neil Young and Bruce Palmer), first as road manager and
then finishing the tour behind the skins when Dewey Martin was dismissed.
Returning to Northern Virginia in 1988, John has recently been involved with
television and video production, winning awards for the videos The Magic Mall
and They Changed America. On April 1995 he was back behind the drums
with the new band Quaver, which consists of former Cherry People founders Chris
and Doug Grimes and bassist Carl Jones. |
